This is a free tool for you, which can be used to convert ANSI or OEM files to UTF-8 format.

This program will soon support many more encodings and HTML entity decoding, so it will be useful in many more languages and to convert HTML pages to the now more common UTF-8 format.

Wir haben von einem Problem geh�rt, welches wir bisher nicht nachvollziehen konnten, welches aber durchaus vorstellbar ist.

In dem speziellen Fall soll es zum H�ngen des Programmes gekommen sein und es wurde durch CTRL-C abgebrochen. Nun ein abgebrochenes Programm kann nicht mehr auf irgendetwas reagieren und z.B. Daten zusammen sammeln. Die Ursache des Problemes wurde dadurch nicht gleich erkannt, denn es gab ja keine LOG-Datei. In so einem Fall ist es besser den Socket-Timeout von ca. 5 bis 1o Minuten abzuwarten und dann gegebenenfalls das ganze mit CTRL-C beenden. In dem genannten Fall w�re bein Socket-Timeout die LOG-Datei aus dem Verzeichnis erg000X geholt worden und man h�tte sofort gesehen, dass die Ursache eine Quelle in einem Geb�ude war.

Wie hier bereits angedeutet, kann man im Extremfall die erg0n0x-Verzeichnis durchst�bern. Die Log-Dateien sollten dann schon Informationen preisgeben.

Im Normallfall w�re bei diesem Problem die Rechnung beendet worden und man h�tte den entsprechenden Hinweis in der Log-Datei gefunden.

Now with support of multybyte characters like Chinese, japanese etc.

Also new is that the number of pie marks/labels are adjustable. This is to reduce clutter when there are many pie segments. The labels for smaller segments are not displayed.

Die meisten Linux Distributionen enthalten das Paket Wine, welches es erlaubt einige Windows-Programme unter Linux zu benutzen.

Wir haben einige Programme unter Wine 1.O (mit Gecko Erweiterung) f�r Sie getestet und auch einige Modifikationen vorgenommen, damit Sie diese auch unter Linux benutzen k�nnen.

Bisher getestete Programme: P&K 3781, P&K 3782, P&K 395O und P&K MET

Installation: Installieren Sie unser Programm auf einem Windows-Rechner und kopieren Sie das entsprechende Programmverzeichnis auf ein Linux-System. (Der Installer hat unter Kubuntu das Wine-Programmmen� zerst�rt, also besser nicht versuchen)

Note: Sie m�ssen evtl. alle Vorkommen von @="winebrowser.exe ...." in .wine/sysconfig so erweitern @="winebrowser.exe .... %1"

Falls Sie z.B. unbedingt Windows Vista's Benutzerkonten-Steuerung nutzen wollen, oder das Programmverzeichnis, in dem unsere Software liegt, schreibgesch�tzt ist, gibt es zwei M�glichkeiten damit umzugehen.

Installieren Sie unsere Programme einfach in ein anderes Verzeichnis

tragen Sie nach der Installation in der Datei p&k.ini im Programmverzeichnis:

ein.

Der Installer f�r die MS C++ Redristributable Libraries wurde aus dem Installationspaket entfernt. Links zur Quelle wurden auf der Download-Seite hinzugef�gt.

Falls Sie englische Fehlermeldungen w�nschen, kann in pk_mpi.ini "Lang=us" hinzugef�gt werden.

The emebedded Installer for the MS C++ Redristributable Libraries has been removed from the installation package. A link to the source has been added on the download page.

If you like english error message, you may now add "Lang=us" to pk_mpi.ini

Don't play with the network while a calculation job is running. This might cause a crash. Our programs communicate via network sockets. Turnin wireless on or off under Windows will interupt internal network connections.

Andere Software
Beachten Sie, dass Programme wie ScreenSaver, AntiVirus Software und viele andere Programme die Geschwindigkeit einer Berechnung negativ beeinflussen k�nnen.

AUSTAL Einstellungen
Andere Faktoren sind nat�rlich die Eingangsdaten, wie z.B. Daten die vdisp.exe (K�hlturm etc) ins Spiel bringen.

Arbeitsspeicher
Stellen Sie sicher Ihr System hat genug Arbeitsspeicher. Falls Ihr System oft auslagert vergr��ern Sie den Arbeitsspeicher, denn das Auslagern bremst die Berechnung total aus. Falls Ihre Festplattenkontrolle h�ufig an ist, �berpr�fen Sie, ob Ihr System h�ufig auslagert. Ich habe gesehn, dass austal2ooo manchmal 23o MB benutzt und das mal die Anzahl der Cores plus das was das System selbst braucht sollte als physikalischer Arbeitsspeicher vorhanden sein. Leider k�nnen 32Bit Windows-Systeme nur 3GB Arbeitsspeichers adressieren!!! Im Falle bei der Berechnung wird mehr Speicher ben�tigt, kann nur eine reduzierte Anzahl an benutzten Cores helfen. Im Task-Manager kann unter Prozesse eingesehen werden wieviel Arbeitsspeicher pro AUSTAL2ooo benutzt wird.

(Wir pr�fen hier nach verschiedene L�sung, um diese Problem zu umgehen)

Dienste
Schalten Sie unn�tige Systemdienste ab. Ich halte den Indexing Service f�r unn�tig. Der Task Scheduler sollte auch nicht laufen. Man kann auch verhindern das bei NTFS die Zugriffszeit, bei jedem Dateizugriff aktualisiert wird.

Plattennutzung
Halten Sie die Plattennutzung unter 8o% der Kapazit�t, da es dar�ber erheblich langsamer wird.

Other Software
Note that programs like ScreenSavers, AntiVirus software and others can have a negative performance impact on a calculation.

AUSTAL Settings
Other factors are of course the program settings, but especially settings which cause vdisp.exe (cooling towers etc.) to get involved.

RAM
Give your system enough RAM. I've seen austal2ooo using 23oMByte of RAM. Now multiply that by the number of cores and you can estimate the amount of RAM you need in addition to what your system is using. If there is not enough RAM available, your system will start to swap and that will decrease performance significantly. Watch the disk access light. If that is on often, check if your system is swapping and if so put in more RAM. Note that 32Bit Windows systems can address only 3GB. We are looking for a way to bypass this problem, but until then one can only reduce the number of used cores. One can check the memory consumption of AUSTAL2ooo in the Task Manager under Processes.

Disable unneeded services. You probably don't need to have the indexing service on. You could turn off that your system updates file information on every read of a file. You may turn of file access time updates for NTFS file systems. You should turn off the task scheduler if you don't use it.

Disk usage
Disk usage shouln't go over 8o% as that makes disk access significantly slower.
